GroupMe MCP works with any MCP-compatible AI client. Claude Desktop is used in
the examples throughout this documentation, but the server runs over stdio and
is compatible with any host that supports the Model Context Protocol.
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external tools and data sources. An MCP server exposes a set of tools — functions the AI can call to take real actions in the world. GroupMe MCP acts as a bridge between your AI assistant and the GroupMe API.What GroupMe MCP does
GroupMe MCP gives your AI assistant 29 tools covering the full GroupMe API v3. Once connected, your assistant can:- Read and send messages in groups and direct message threads
- Create, update, and manage groups and their members
- Create bots and post messages on their behalf
- Like and unlike messages
- Manage your user profile and block list
